By including all ASU units and working with external partners, ASU educates, discovers solutions and implements practices that help people drive the transition to a sustainable world.Through four overarching sustainability goals — climate neutrality, zero solid and water waste, active engagement and principled practice — ASU takes seriously reducing consumption, maximizing efficiency and rethinking products and actions. The university has made an institutional commitment to lead by example through the sustainable operations of its campuses. By demonstrating exemplary practices and sharing solutions, ASU stimulates changes in individual, institutional and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable planet.

The Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability is the hub of ASU’s sustainability initiatives, and is home to more than 500 sustainability scientists and scholars across different fields. The institute advances research, education and business practices for an urbanizing world. Its School of Sustainability, the first of its kind in the U.S., trains the next generation of sustainability practitioners, entrepreneurs and leaders. An emphasis on sustainability across the curriculum directs coursework, research and outreach toward solving today’s most important problems.ASU is working to advance all 17 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is incorporating practices to become carbon neutral by 2025.
