STAPLES Center Upgrades to LED Lighting

The STAPLES Center in Los Angeles has converted the arena’s lighting to a new LED system ahead of the 2014-15 NBA and NHL seasons. Supplied by Solotech and manufactured by Lidlum, the new system will reduce energy costs compared to traditional metal halide lighting of an estimated $280,000 annually. Working with the NBA’s Clippers and NHL’s Kings, the partner companies designed new lighting fixtures that improve both power consumption and color temperature.“We are thrilled to be on the forefront in our industry by converting the arena to LED lighting,” said STAPLES Center president Lee Zeidman, “it is the latest technology and the wave of the future and we wanted to get on board right away. From an environmental and sustainability standpoint, this made sense for us and will save us significantly in the long run on energy costs.”The lighting installation is part of a $7 million series of renovations to the sports complex, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this season.Read the full article here.
