The St. Louis Cardinals will host their 5th annual Green Week, April 22 – April 30 in celebration of the 44th anniversary of Earth Day with activities to help promote recycling inside and outside of Busch Stadium. The week’s activities include an e-waste recycling drive, a shoe collection drive in partnership with Shoeman Water Projects, and the collection of used baseball and softball equipment for donation through “Rawlings Replay.”During Green Week, and all season long, the Cardinals Green Team volunteers collect recyclables from fans in between innings while promoting recycling at Busch Stadium.Since the launch of 4 A Greener Game in 2008, the Cardinals have diverted approximately 2,400 tons of solid wastes from local landfills. With the help of 550 recycling bins located around the stadium, an average of four tons of trash are recycled each game. The team has also reduced energy use by 20% and water use by 10% since the stadium opened in 2006.Click here to find out more about the Cardinals 4 A Greener Game and Green Week.
