Ray Anderson Named to Green Sports Alliance Board of Directors

Vice President for University Athletics and Athletics Director Ray Anderson will join the board of directors of the Green Sports Alliance, Sun Devil Athletics and the Green Sports Alliance announced today.The Green Sports Alliance is the leader in leveraging the market influence of sports to promote environmentally sustainable practices. Recently, the White House recognized the Alliance for its efforts in creating Green Sports Day.Arizona State University is one of nearly 400 member teams, venues, events and universities from 20 leagues in 14 countries."I am honored to represent Sun Devil Athletics on the board of the Green Sports Alliance and to join industry leaders with the intent of driving sustainability awareness and change through the platform of athletics," Anderson said. "To make sustainable changes and to encourage others to do the same requires members within the sporting industry to step up and take a seat at the table, and I am proud to show my commitment to sustainability by putting action behind our messaging."Anderson's presence on the board of directors adds the representation of an athletics director from a leader in sustainability within the NCAA to a group with representatives from the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, NASCAR and fellow NCAA and Pac-12 leader the University of Colorado at Boulder. In July of this year, Anderson delivered the keynote address at the Green Sports Alliance Summit in Houston, Texas."Ray leads a high-powered athletics program at one of the nation's top campuses for sustainability," said Justin Zeulner, Executive Director of the Alliance.
