New Mexico State University recently took steps to improve landfill waste diversion on the Las Cruces campus with the placement of 24 recycling bins at the university’s various sports venues. The bins, provided through a grant from Keep America Beautiful and the Coca-Cola Foundation, can be found at Aggie Memorial Stadium and the Pan American Center as well as the athletic department’s baseball, softball and soccer fields.NMSU becomes the 156th recipient of a Keep America Beautiful grant, which has assisted local governments, schools, colleges and other community groups nationwide in improving their recycling efforts based on need and potential for program expansion.“One of the main barriers to recycling is convenience. Providing a recycling bin helps communities overcome that barrier,” said Keep America Beautiful president and CEO Matthew M. McKenna about the grants. “We are truly grateful for Coca-Cola’s support and commitment to recycling, and for its support and commitment of the Bin Grant Program.”Click here to read the full story.
