The San Francisco Giants were announced earlier this month as the repeat winner of Major League Baseball's Green Glove Award, an annual sustainability competition to promote recycling at MLB ballparks. The Giants won in 2013 by diverting more than 86% of the total waste generated at AT&T Park from landfill disposal. The award, based on self-reporting from each club utilizing the MLB GreenTracks online tracking software, incentivizes more sustainable operations under the Greening Program begun by Major League Baseball in 2006 in alliance with the Natural Resources Defense Council. The league also awards Green Gloves to the top recycler in each individual division, in addition to other sustainability programs at the All-Star Game and World Series.Read about the Green Glove program and all the 2013 winners here.Related Articles: Major League Baseball and NRDC Partner Again at 2013 All-Star Game
