Liverpool have announced a new global partnership with Quorn with the aim of fostering greater food sustainability. The meat-free food brand will become the Premier League leaders’ ‘Official Sustainable Protein Partner’ and will work with the club on its Reds Go Green initiative.“As a leading provider of sustainable meat-free products in the UK, Quorn will be a key partner in the club’s sustainability efforts,” said Billy Hogan, Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer, Liverpool FC. “In this case, Quorn will help us provide our supporters with more sustainable food alternatives on matchdays.”“We look forward to providing a platform to help our fans, employees and playing staff make positive contributions to tackling climate change while at the same time considering their health and wellbeing.”Liverpool says its Reds Going Green programme has significantly improved the club's environmental impact, where it has taken steps to reduce single-use plastic and reduce the club’s carbon footprint through sustainable waste management. The club has highlighted that 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from the livestock supply chain, and says that the mycoprotein used by Quornemits 90% fewer emissions than beef.Gill Riley, marketing director at Quorn, said: “Our partnership with Liverpool FC is very important to our Quorn vision, which is to provide food that is healthy for our families and the planet.“We also want to understand the positive impact Quorn’s super-protein can have on elite sports performers, so working with LFC and its world-renowned nutritional experts will be fundamental in the next phase of our sports science research.”As part of the partnership, Quorn products will be provided as vegetarian and vegan food options for supporters on matchdays, while the brand will also work with the club’s nutrition team to extend food options for the playing staff.Read the original post here
