The Green Sports Alliance, in partnership with the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), recently launched a comprehensive survey on sustainability within collegiate athletics programs. This is the first such survey the Alliance has conducted, and the first for AASHE since the McSherry Study in 2009 (two years before the Alliance was launched). The 2016 Collegiate Athletics Sustainability Survey seeks to better understand and empower the campus and community teamwork necessary to advance sustainability in collegiate athletics, and to gauge the general progress of sustainability initiatives within collegiate athletics over the past seven years. It was produced collaboratively by the Alliance and AASHE, and jointly distributed. The survey is intended for any higher education staff member working with campus sustainability and/or collegiate athletics at their institution.AASHE and the Green Sports Alliance will use the survey’s results to mitigate identified barriers and expand opportunities for collaboration between campus sustainability stakeholders and colleagues in athletics and the community. A summary report of the survey findings will be published in mid-2016, and there will be a session devoted to the results of the survey at the 2016 AASHE Conference in Baltimore in October. The survey will close on Wednesday, March 23. Please take 10 minutes of your time to assist in this important initiative.
