Autzen Stadium Teams with SeQuential to Turn Cooking Oil into Biodiesel
The University of Oregon has partnered with SeQuential Pacific Biodiesel to recycle its spent cooking fuel from Autzen Stadium’s concession stands into biodiesel. SeQuential Pacific adds Autzen to its list of stadium accounts including Oregon State’s Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Jeld-Wen Field in Portland, and multiple facilities in Seattle including Husky Stadium, CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field. The Autzen deal expands the University of Oregon's efforts to have spent cooking oil collected and converted into biodiesel. The campus already donates oils for recycling from the food court at Erb Memorial Union and from its various University Housing and Dining Services. During the 2013 football season, SeQuential – originally founded by three UO students at the on-campus incubator in Eugene – will collect between 200 and 600 gallons of oil from Autzen after each of the Ducks’ seven home games.“This is very meaningful for us to have the business come back and provide full service to the university," said Tyson Keever, SeQuential’s general manager and one of the three UO graduates who built the company. “It does have a very special place in our heart."
