APS Solar Pavilion at Chase Field

The APS Solar Pavilion at Chase Field is the product of a partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Maricopa County Stadium District. The pavilion is a solar power plant, working laboratory and green energy classroom all-in-one. Plus, it provides Diamondbacks fans much-needed shade during the hot Arizona summers. The pavilion covers 17,280 square feet of the plaza area near the western entrances and ticket booths.

Its 336 solar panels produce 75 kilowatts of clean energy, enough electricity to power 8-10 Arizona homes for a year.  APS (Arizona Public Service) uses the solar facility, which has a 20-year life span, as a technical demonstration project. It includes electric vehicle charging stations and is testing a battery storage system. The Solar Pavilion also features educational exhibits showcasing elements of sustainable living such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles and recycling."

The solar structure will not only further distinguish the D-backs' green initiatives among professional sports teams, but it will also provide needed shading near the ballpark to enhance our fan experience during the hot summer months," said D-backs President and CEO Derrick Hall.
